How Jhola World Began

A small idea that grew into a movement for sustainable, handcrafted living.

It started with a simple question: why do we throw away so many bags? In 2019, our founder Priya Sharma set out to build an alternative — beautiful, functional bags made by skilled artisans using eco-friendly materials.

What began as a small workshop in Jaipur grew steadily as more people discovered the joy of carrying something made with genuine care. Each jhola tells the story of the hands that crafted it, the materials that went into it, and the conscious choice its owner made.

Today, Jhola World works with a growing network of artisans across India, offering a wide range of eco-friendly bags, custom printing, and bulk solutions for businesses that care about how they show up in the world.

A vision born from everyday frustration with plastic waste, and a deep love for Indian craft.

Priya Sharma Founder & CEO, Jhola World

"I believe every purchase is a vote for the kind of world we want to live in."

Priya grew up watching her grandmother weave beautiful jute bags in Rajasthan. That memory of craft, colour, and care stayed with her through her years in design school and later in a corporate marketing career.

In 2019, after years of watching plastic bags pile up at every event and office she worked with, she quit her job and started Jhola World from a small workshop in Jaipur with three artisans and one clear mission — make something that lasts and means something.
